New Ideas Into Garfield Plush earlier Than Revealed

By 1869, Vanderbilt had commissioned John B. Snook to design his new station, dubbed Grand Central Depot, on the site of the 42nd Street depot. Snooks’s ultimate design was within the Second Empire style. The Harlem Railroad switched from its Madison Square depot on October 9, 1871; the new Haven Railroad arrived on October 16; and the brand new York Central & Hudson River Railroad on November 1, eight days later than planned. Mann and her husband, Michael Penn, had a relationship with actor Andrew Garfield, who had not too long ago arrived in Hollywood. Dakin was in a big upswing of gross sales and earnings in the late 1980s, fueled by the success of its Garfield character licenses, and wanted to accommodate its burgeoning workers of artists and designers.

Wanting northwest from the Dakin Building campus over San Francisco Bay towards San Bruno Mountain. The site was far outside the limits of the developed city at the time, and even Vanderbilts backers warned against building the terminal in such an undeveloped space. The terminal consisted of a 3-story head home, and a practice shed north and east of the top house. There were three ready rooms, one for every one of the three railroads, and a metallic-and-glass display screen with metal doorways closed off the north finish of the station. The storage yard stretched north to 58th Street. The structures on these garfield plush parcels included two locomotive sheds, an automobile house, and a stable and horseshoeing store for the horses that pulled Harlem Railroad carriages from 42nd Street to Madison Square.

The three lines would meet at Mott Haven, then run on the Harlem Railroads tracks alongside Park Avenue in Manhattan to a brand new hub station at 42nd Road. To scale back confusion, the railroads staggered their inaugural runs to the new station. Vanderbilt developed a proposal to unite the three railroads at a single central station, replacing the separate and adjacent stations that created chaos in baggage transfer. In 1899, William J. Wilgus, the new York Centrals chief engineer, proposed electrifying the lines leading to the station using a third rail power system devised by Frank J. Sprague.
